Privacy policy

What we collect when you visit, get a key, buy or use Byditors Studio, why we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Byditors (“we”, “us”) runs this website and the Byditors Studio licence service. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules. This policy explains what personal data we handle and why.

The short version. We collect what we need to give you a licence and support you: your name, email, optional phone, your licence and the computers it's active on. Your footage, scripts and projects stay on your computer and never reach us. We don't sell your data and we don't run ad trackers on this site.

What we collect

  • When you get or buy a licence: your name, email address, optional phone number, the plan you chose, and the licence key we issue. For paid orders we also receive the Razorpay payment and order IDs, the amount and the payment status.
  • When the software checks its licence: the licence key, a one-way scrambled ID for your computer, the computer's name, the app version, and your IP address, with the time of each check.
  • When you join a waitlist or ask us to resend a key: your email address.
  • When you email us: whatever you choose to write, and your email address.
  • Security logs: IP addresses and the time of requests to our checkout and licence services, to stop abuse such as key guessing.

We do not collect your footage, audio, scripts, projects, thumbnails or your Claude conversations. The studio processes those on your own computer.

What we don't see

Card, UPI and bank details go straight to Razorpay. We never see or store them.

Why we use it

  • To issue your licence key, deliver the download and let you activate, move or reset your computers.
  • To process payments and refunds, and keep records the law requires (such as tax and accounting records).
  • To send emails about your licence: your key, setup help, important changes, and news about the end of free testing.
  • To protect the service: stop key sharing beyond your plan, block abuse, and investigate problems.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you submit the form or install the software, and on our legitimate need to provide and protect the service and meet legal obligations. We won't send you marketing emails unless you ask for them.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers who help us run this, and only what they need:

  • Razorpay (payments), when paid licences are open.
  • Supabase (database and licence server, hosted in Mumbai, India).
  • Vercel (website hosting).
  • Resend (sending licence emails), if email delivery is switched on.

We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights in a dispute. We don't sell or rent personal data.

When you use Claude with the studio, what you type and share in Claude is handled by Anthropic under its own privacy policy, not by us. The same goes for optional services you connect, such as ElevenLabs or OpenAI.

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. If you pay through Razorpay's checkout window, Razorpay may set its own cookies to process and secure the payment.

How long we keep it

We keep licence and order records for as long as your licence is active and then as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally up to 8 years). Security logs are kept for up to 12 months. Waitlist emails are deleted when you ask or when they're no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (unless we must keep it by law, such as payment records), and you can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent may mean we can't keep your licence active. You can also nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Email byditorswork@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Our database is locked so only our own server code can read licence records, and licence checks are signed so they can't be forged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

Byditors Studio is not meant for children under 18. We don't knowingly collect their data without a parent's or guardian's consent.

Grievances and contact

For any privacy question or complaint, write to our grievance contact at byditorswork@gmail.com. We'll acknowledge it within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change, and email licence holders about significant changes.
